World Teachers' Day
Today celebrates the more than 32 million teachers in more than 170 countries around the world. On Oct. 5, 1996, the Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers in Paris, France, was closed and the Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers was signed by the representatives of UNESCO and the International Labour Organization. Nearly 30 years later, UNESCO elected to commemorate the importance of the recommendation by designating October 5 as an international day to appreciate teachers. Thank you CCSD teachers for your hard work and dedication to your vocation and our students!
