School Council

Parents and guardians with children attending our schools are members of their local school council and are encouraged to participate in council activities. School councils usually meet on a monthly basis. They are established in all schools and serve as a way for parents and guardians, principals and teachers to meet and work together towards common goals. School council chairs also meet with one another, district administrators and our Board of Trustees at district-wide meetings.

School councils, working with their principals, create a community spirit that makes a school more than just a school. They create a learning environment where students feel the commitment of their principal, teachers and parents working toward a common goal: creating teaching and learning environments where students reach their potential and achieve at the highest levels in all areas of learning.

Fundraising Society

In early 2007 the Bishop O’Byrne Fundraising Society was developed to support enhancements to the education of the students at Bishop O’Byrne High School. The Fundraising Society meets monthly at Bishop O’Byrne following regular School Council Meetings. All parents are invited and welcome to be a part of the Society.
